Where RolakInvoice comes from

Behind RolakInvoice stands a single person: Jan Rolak. Software engineer, building tools that automate boring problems for around 7 years. In 2025, two factors aligned: SME accounting workflows were digital but fragmented, and multimodal AI was finally mature enough to read invoice PDFs reliably.

Out of both observations RolakInvoice was born. Invoice storage runs on Swiss servers (Infomaniak Geneva), AI processing happens via Google Gemini (EU) with OpenAI as a cross-provider fallback. Which content goes to which provider is laid out in the privacy policy.

Built solo, but not run alone: behind the scenes runs a well-tested stack (.NET 10, Next.js 14, PostgreSQL, Infomaniak), and an AI pair programmer helps keep the pace. More on that in the team section.

Writes code, refactors, thinks along. Takes no breaks, no holidays, no tips, but occasionally sends creative pull request descriptions. Helps build RolakInvoice since the first commit. (AI tool, not a legal employee.)
